What warranty does each SUV come with in South Africa?

iCaur’s eight years is the longest warranty on this page, and it is number 19 from the bottom for distance covered per year. Eight years and 200 000 km works out to 25 000 km a year — below Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer’s two-year, 100 000 km warranty at 50 000, and below the 50 000 a year that the Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer allow. At the other end, Lexus GX’s seven years and 100 000 km comes to 14 286 km a year, the least on this page. Audi, BMW, Foton, Ineos, Kia, MINI, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi and Proton cannot be placed in that order at all — those warranties have no distance limit, so there is no per-year figure to compare them on.

This table is not ranked, because no single number ranks it. A warranty is at least two figures pulling in opposite directions: a long term suits low mileage, a high distance limit suits high mileage, and a brand that wins on one can lose on the other. The third column divides one by the other so the trade-off is visible — but it is derived by us, not published by anyone, and it says nothing at all about the ten brands with no distance cap, which have no figure there for that reason. The table is alphabetical so that the order asserts nothing.

Terms as published by each manufacturer for South Africa, sources checked between 4 March 2016 and 21 October 2026. BAIC, BYD, Foton, Geely, Hyundai, Ineos, JAC, Jaecoo, Jetour, Lexus, MG, Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Omoda and Volkswagen appear more than once because the range does not share one warranty — the B30 at 7 years / 200 000 km, the B40 Plus at 5 years / 120 000 km, the Beijing X55 Plus at 5 years / 150 000 km, the Atto 2 at 5 years / 150 000 km, the Atto 3 at 5 years / 100 000 km, the Tunland G7 at 5 years / 200 000 km, the Tunland V7 at 5 years / no distance cap, the View Luxury Shuttlebus at 3 years / 100 000 km, the Coolray at 5 years / 150 000 km, the E5 at 6 years / 150 000 km, the Alcazar at 5 years / 150 000 km, the Creta at 7 years / 200 000 km, the Grenadier Quartermaster at 5 years / 100 000 km, the Grenadier Station Wagon at 5 years / no distance cap, the T8 at 5 years / 100 000 km, the T9 at 5 years / 200 000 km, the J5 at 5 years / 150 000 km, the J7 at 7 years / 200 000 km, the Dashing at 5 years / 150 000 km, the T1 at 7 years / 200 000 km, the GX at 7 years / 100 000 km, the NX at 7 years / 105 000 km, the Pik Up at 4 years / 120 000 km, the Scorpio-N at 5 years / 150 000 km, the AMG G 63 at 2 years / no distance cap, the EQS SUV at 5 years / Not specified, the EQV at 5 years / 100 000 km, the Vito Tourer at 2 years / 100 000 km, the HS at 5 years / 200 000 km, the ZS at 5 years / 150 000 km, the Destinator at 5 years / no distance cap, the Eclipse Cross at 3 years / 100 000 km, the C5 at 5 years / 150 000 km, the C9 at 7 years / 150 000 km, the Amarok at 5 years / 150 000 km and the Caddy 5 at 3 years / 120 000 km. Volkswagen publishes separate passenger and commercial warranty documents and the Amarok is classed commercial, so that pair is two documents, not an error in the table. This page covers the 286 models in our catalogue, not every SUV sold in South Africa, and it covers warranty only — service plans are a separate question with separate numbers.

Nine models in our catalogue carry no warranty figures yet and are not in this table.

One model has no ownership source recorded. Its figures are marked unverified in the table below.

Every model links to its own page, where the warranty figure carries the source it was taken from and the date it was checked.
